Russell Thompson is a Board member of the Hilbert Group AB and the Global Chief Investment Officer.

Russell was a co-founder and CEO of Liberty Road Capital, a BVI based Investment manager specialising in BTC and ETH structured derivatives which merged with Hilbert in 2025. . Russell is a Principal and Chief Investment Officer of The Attwood Family Office S.A.M. (Monaco). The Attwood Family Office specialises and invests in Foreign Exchange alpha and overlay, Global Macro, Emerging Markets and Crypto and Blockchain.

Prior to this he was the co-founder and Chief Investment Officer of The Cambridge Strategy (Asset Management) Limited, an Investment Management Firm specialising in Alpha and Overlay Foreign Exchange Trading, Global Emerging Markets Macro, and Emerging Market Equities. 

Cambridge was acquired by Mesirow Financial in 2018.

Cambridge ran just over $3 billion of client funds in alpha and overlay strategies, and was the recipient of many best in class awards since it's inception in 2004. Cambridge had offices in Monaco, London, Hong Kong and New York.

Russell oversaw all trading and risk taking in Cambridge and is an expert on emerging markets, and risk taking in highly volatile instruments with significantly non-normal distributions. He is the author of several papers on managing risk in these types of environments. 

Russell is a significant personal investor in crypto currencies and blockchain technologies. He is a strong believer in personal liberty and choice. 

Russell has a BSc(Hons) in Economics, has the ACT post-graduate qualification and is a member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers, having passed his ACT exams with distinction.
