Liquid Network is Bitcoin's Financial Layer, building Bitcoin capital markets.
The Liquid Network is an open-source Bitcoin sidechain and layer-2 solution interoperable with Lightning that enables faster, more confidential bitcoin transactions and the issuance and exchange of digital assets like stablecoins, tokenized securities, and bonds.
It is designed to improve a broken financial system that relies on centralized trust, middlemen, and custodians and to replace it with one of distributed trust, confidentiality, and self-custody.
Launched in 2018 as Bitcoin's first sidechain, Liquid shares its codebase with Bitcoin to create a secure, cryptographically robust protocol that complements Lightning as an alternative payment system and extends Bitcoin's use cases into the realm of new capital markets.
