Jing Xiong is an Investment Director at YZi Labs, focusing on AI investments. Previously, she was at Google, where she worked on Gemini trust & safety, multilingual, multimodal evaluation and post-training and had led several modeling efforts and features at Google Lens. Jing holds a Ph.D. degree from Stanford, where her research combined computer vision and neuroscience.
Gemini multimodal multilingual eval and post training. My journey began at Google Lens, where I honed my skills in developing backend systems for computer vision applications. Notably, I led the development of the "Top Match" feature and spearheaded the implementation of machine learning models for result ranking. Additionally, I served as the machine learning lead for on device vision applications.
Prior to joining Google, I pursued academic excellence as a Stanford Graduate Fellow, culminating in a PhD in electrical engineering. Under the guidance of Professor Mark Horowitz and Liqun Luo, I specialized in applying computer vision techniques to neuroscience research. My contributions include the development of precision tools enabling neuroscientists to map high-resolution histological images of experimental mouse brains to the Allen Mouse Brain Atlas. These innovations have significantly advanced neuroscience research, with publications in prestigious journals like Cell, facilitating deeper insights into neural circuitry.
Before Stanford, I collaborated with brain surgeons at Mayo Clinic, where I developed MRI image registration software to enhance surgical planning. My passion for machine learning led me to pursue systematic training in computer vision, natural language processing, and artificial intelligence. At Stanford, I held leadership roles as the co-president of Graduate Students in Electrical Engineering and Vice President of Business Development at the Association of Chinese Students and Scholars. Recognized for my contributions, I received accolades from the Chinese Embassy and participated in esteemed academic committees.
Beyond my technical endeavors, I harbor a keen interest in entrepreneurship. I served as Vice President of Business Development at the Chinese Entrepreneur Organization, securing sponsorships from prominent venture capital firms. Moreover, I obtained certification in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Stanford's Graduate School of Business. In my leisure time, I showcase my artistic talents as a Guzheng performer, having graced stages at renowned venues such as the Campbell Recital Hall and the Stanford Memorial Auditorium, earning recognition through the Friends of Music Applied Music Scholarship.
Through a harmonious blend of technical prowess, academic rigor, and entrepreneurial spirit, I strive to make meaningful contributions at the intersection of technology, academia, and business.
