James Hu is a former Strategy and Operations professional who worked at OpenSea, from January 2022 to July 2022. He joined OpenSea's operations team, focusing on high-priority initiatives. Prior to OpenSea, Hu held positions at Ula as Category GM and Head of Special Projects, and also worked at SoftBank Vision Fund and McKinsey & Company.

Hu has a diverse educational background, holding a B.A. in Music Theory & Economics with a certificate in Finance from Northwestern University, and is currently pursuing an MBA at INSEAD (2023-2024). He has lived and worked in multiple countries, including the US, Indonesia, Singapore, Mozambique, Japan, UK, and Canada.

After being laid off from OpenSea in July 2022 due to the crypto market downturn, Hu has since moved on to other pursuits. He is currently studying geopolitics, governance, and spirituality. Hu has also written about the NFT marketplace industry, sharing insights on platforms like OpenSea and their challenges in the evolving crypto landscape.
