Beta Finance, creating a permissionless money market for lending, borrowing, and shorting all crypto assets. The team recognizes that short selling is a critical financial tool that is missing in the DeFi ecosystem today that facilitates market stability and efficiency, and we are creating it.

Beta is an up-and-coming permissionless money market with a focus on providing access to long-tail assets and improving the ease of obtaining short exposure to assets. Backed by the strength of Alpha Finance’s ecosystem, Beta is well-positioned to thrive in the money market space.

It is creating an accessible, easy-to-use tool for shorting. This is one of the most commonly used financial instruments in traditional finance, yet there is no such tool that currently exists to easily initiate and manage short positions. Beta Finance will enable DeFi users and traders without technical know-how to take the opposite side of a trade, and facilitate greater market efficiency and stability to ensure the healthy value accrual of tokens.

Many long-tail crypto assets experience volatility and excessive price inflation, making them tokens with strong short interest. However, DeFi users are unable to short these tokens currently. Accessibility to tokens on money markets is severely limited right now, as >99% of crypto assets are unsupported. By building a permissionless money market protocol, Beta Finance is able to support not only popular crypto assets, but also the long tail of crypto assets that are currently neglected. This enables DeFi users to short many of the most volatile crypto assets to promote stability and healthier value accrual, and gives token holders the ability to earn additional yield on all tokens they hold, not just popular ones. Lenders will be able to earn high APY (up to 1000%+) on their assets, while short sellers are borrowing the token to short and pay a borrow APY for their positions. Beta Finance’s permissionless money market will be able to scale as DeFi grows, onboarding any token, and enable DeFi users to utilize our short selling tool to its fullest potential.

DeFi is the future of finance, and it’s important that we bring our innovative solutions to all communities. We are excited to work closely with our investors and advisors as we scale Beta Finance on Ethereum and cross-chain, building out technical infrastructure, partnering with established DeFi protocols to synergize our products together, and actively engaging with and growing our Beta community. With our strong investors assisting, we will explore how we can utilize our technical infrastructure to push the limits of the capabilities of money markets and become the hub for liquidity providers and short sellers that promote market efficiency.

It is the first project incubated by Alpha Launchpad. Beta Finance addresses the demand of the long term token holders and the short term volatility capturer by offering yields to the former and liquidity sources for short selling to the latter. Similar to Alpha Homora, Beta Finance is tackling a specific problem that has a large potential TAM with an elegant solution.
