Ahmed is an experienced investor and operator with a global footprint in Africa, US, Europe, MENA and GCC regions. Having attracted, directed and managed USD 200 million in private/public capital to date, leveraging his strong stakeholder management skills, Ahmed provided high-level technical expertise to HNWIs and family offices, financial institutions, DFIs, governments and Fortune 500s including IFC, JP Morgan Chase, UNICEF, Saudi's SAMA/CMA, Morocco's Ministère de l'Industrie and others.
Ahmed has been involved with blockchain since 2013, and has since developed multiparty SaaS and BaaS implementations in digital transformation, fintech, payments and supply chain solutions leveraging distributed ledger technologies and smart tokens.
Ahmed also founded GIFGIF in 2016, a tech business that renders customized animated GIFs for marketing campaigns, growing the business 15x in five years. There, Ahmed developed GIFGIF's go-to-market strategy and created long-lasting partnerships with leading Fortune 500s.
Ahmed leads Emurgo Africa's USD100M fund-of-funds, investing in web2 and web3 funds and startups in Africa with a focus on RWA "real world asset" applications in fintech for the unbanked and sustainable finance.
